Shug and Wanderin’Fool on North Country Trail

Finally got out for a two night quick and fast backpack trip on the North Country Trail. Joining me was an old friend and noobie backpacker Wander’nFool. He did wonderfully …. he studied and bought tons of new and terrific gear and practiced with it! That is the way to do it. He had a Warbonnet BlackBird hammock, a Warbonnet Yeti UnderQuilt, ULA Circuit pack, MacCat Tarp from OES, a JetBoil stove, Leki Hiking Poles and some SmartWool. Packed the Kelly Kettle wood-burning stove in the outside pocket of my ULA OHM backpack. Stripped it down to backpacker mode by removing the cork, putting on a lighter handle, leaving the base home and testing out a light-weight home brewed base I made from a pie tin and hardware cloth. Saved about 6 ounces overall. Used the Dutch Clips for the first time in the woods on my hammock suspension. Flawless and ever-so light. I brought my DIY hammock and since we passed one car on the hike at a shuttle point I traded out for the BlackBird the second night. Just testing comforts. Both get 5 stars but BB has a bugnet and on my DIY I left it off. Did get a skeeter or two buzzing me in the morning of camp one. Drats! One tiny issue with the BB hammock is the ridge line when you use it as a lounger at camp. It tends to droop in your face depending on your tree spread on the hang. As we sat lazing around I saw a solution to that …… easy fix to a wonderful piece of gear. Check at 4:05 on the video. We ate well … the Kelly Kettle was a terrific

Will I lose weight by doing this? And how long will it take to lose 15 pounds?

I weigh about 128 pounds right now, and I’d like to lose 15 pounds.
(I’m a female, 14 years old)

I decided I am going to eat only fruits and vegetables, while healthily working out. I don’t stuff myself with fatty foods, I’m not lazy or anything either, but for some reason I still have extra fat that I don’t like..The thing is, my parents come from Brazilian heritage and I guess we love to eat rice and beans, and add salt and spices to our foods. I’m going to have to quit eating those, and start drinking strictly only water and eating only fruits, and vegetables. For protein, I can take One A Day Women’s, which I already do sometimes.

Doing this, do you think I will successfully reach my goal? And how long would you think it will take? I’m hoping to do it by the time school starts in September. That would be great.

Best Coffee Machine | Best Coffee Maker

betterguideforyou.com — Getting The Best Coffee Machine Absolutely the best!!! Has anyone ever gone to a diner, coffee shop or convienence store and drank the coffee and wondered how you can make this excellent tasting coffee at home? Well I have and I have to say that after going through 6 or more coffee devices, percolators, drip and yes even was desperate by drinking instant, I’ve finally found the one machine that duplicates the rich and wonderful taste that you find in the diner, coffee shop etc. I’m in heaven! It’s very easy to use if you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Yes, the reservoir is always on keeping water hot, unless you don’t plan on using it for a few days. But it makes sense since it seems this is the best way to maintain that critical temperture you need to make that rich flavored cup. I’m sure there are other machines that can do this as well, but I’ve been through enough of them and almost gave up because of the disappointed flavor I was getting. I’ve had Farberware percolators which came the closest to what I was looking for but sometimes I left it on… gooey mess at the bottom of the machine and a major clean up. The last machine was a Cusinart, that stainless steel machine that basically was just to look nice on the counter. The coffee was horrible and never hot enough. I gave up at that point and went to Folgers instant, which tasted better than that Cusinart machine. I decided to give it one more try and I’m ecstatic that I did. I even used some old

Should I use my coffee grinder for anything other than coffee beans?

I have at home a Krups burr grinder, and now I wanna grind some unsalted peanuts.

I know my coffee grinder should do the job, but I’m worried it’ll leave the grinder a smell which destroys the aroma of coffee grinds. Should I go ahead?
