Which sentence uses the semicolon corretly?

There were five items on the kitchen counter; a coffemaker, a bag of beans, a grinder, a sugar bowl, and a cracked cup.
At first I couldn’t make out what kind of bird it was, but as it swooped low, I recognized by it’s markings; a peregrine falcon.

In the nineties, everyone was listening to grunge; today, everyone seems to tune into hip hop.

Spending to much on STARBUCKS coffee?

1. 4 cup drip coffee maker (walgreens) .00

3. 200 plain white filters (food co) .00
4. 1 Bruan coffee grinder (bed bath and…) .00

How long do I grind the coffee beans?

Into fine powder or something more grainy? Does anyone time how long they run the grinder? I remember the character from "Black Hawk Down" saying "it’s all in the grind" and I want the secret to the grind.

Do you grind your own coffee?

If so, what beans do you use and what kind of grinder?
By type of grinder, i mean if you used a burr or blade type grinder.

Can a coffee grinder be used to make both coffee grind and espresso grind?

Hi, I just got a coffee grinder and I was wondering if it can be used to make the grind for both espresso’s and coffee. I’m a coffee addict and drink about 1 litre of coffee a day…lol
Also, is it true that it’s cheaper to grind your own beans than buy the grind? Just wondering…
Thanks to all who answer! :-)

What is the texture of a vanilla bean supposed to be?

I just bought my first vanilla bean. When I’ve seen them on TV cooking shows, they look like they’re sorta leathery. I’ve seen cooks run a knife down the pod and split it open to scrape some of the seeds out for a recipe. The one I bought is brittle and dry. No way could I cut it open. Is this vanilla bean O,K.? I would think it’s fine if I wanted to soak it in liquid (like Vodka) but I was hoping to use the seeds inside the pod. Is it possible or adviseable to reconsitute it some way? (Steam it or…??) Or could I grind it up in the coffee grinder, pod and all, and use that powder in a recipe? Now… I would have no idea how much to use in a recipe. Any help or ideas??
If the bean had been leathery like I imagined, how much of the scraped flecks would you use at once? I was hoping there would be enough in a bean for several recipes.
I paid for this dried out vanilla bean from a bulk type spice display. I saw some that looked better taken care of at the health food store for apiece. Is that an average price?
